The enchanting charm induced by this tourist attraction sends sparkling ripples in to the hearts of men with its fresh-water fountains, cascading streams, airy pavilions and limpid pools. This garden was exclusively constructed for the Emperors of the Mughal dynasty and beholds a huge array of hued flowers with scents spreading far and wide. The Nishat Bagh lingers to the border of the Dal Lake and was built by the brother of Empress Nur Jahan, Asaf Khan. Chashmi-e Shahi or the Royal Spring, is considered the smallest garden that comes with illuminations. Moreover, the spring to which this place owes its origin, is supposed to have medicinal value. The Shalimar Bagh, also called the Abode of Love, was built by the Emperor Jahangir to celebrate the beauty of his wife, Nur Jahan, and happens to be the popular one among the three.
Fishing at Pahalgam
The river, Lidder, is well known for brown trout, making the place famous for fishing. The season for fishing starts from April and ends in September every year. You will however, need to gain access to permit for fishing and nothing more than three day is allowed for fishing. You are charged per rod and per day basis through a first come-first serve method. You can hire fishing equipments in Srinagar with the exception of spinning and live baits, which are strictly not allowed for fishing in this region. You can apply for permit to the Directorate of Fisheries, located in the Tourist reception Centre, Srinagar.
